If you have a lever action toilet cistern, installing a Pro Ultra Universal dual flush syphon is a great option to ensure leak prevention and water saving. Want to know more about the features of a dual flush syphon? Read on…
A toilet syphon is a tried and tested option for flushing a toilet cistern. Offering a reliable alternative to a dual flush drop valve, a modern syphon enables the efficient and effective operation of a toilet, providing excellent benefits.
The flushing mechanism of a dual flush syphon is a surprisingly simple, but incredibly effective way of releasing water from the cistern into the toilet pan to flush away waste. A flushing syphon utilises an upturned, u-shaped tube that allows water to move upwards against gravity and then back down to a lower level to be released into the toilet bowl.
The syphon itself consists of several parts, including the stem, the bell housing and the diaphragm washer.
When the toilet handle is depressed, the lever action elevates the lift arm, which pulls on the connecting ‘C-link’ to activate the diaphragm washer. The diaphragm washer pushes upwards forcing the cistern water upwards and over the bend in the bellhousing, down the stem. Syphonic action and gravity allow the cistern to empty until air is reintroduced into the system, completing the flush.
If you would like to switch to a reliable syphon, our Pro Ultra Universal dual flush syphon is a compact size, ensuring that it will be suitable for most 1 ½” lever operated cisterns. It is also quick and easy to install, features light touch activation and flush volume adjustability to ensure water saving.
